  1. Thank you, Emily. I, too, was an empty nester and single when I really started traveling. Once you start, you will love it. I hope you can find some of my suggestions that will help you to be able to travel more without it costing you an arm and a leg. Please check my specials as I list them also.

  2. Hello,
Your site is very informative. I haven’t had an opportunity to travel being a single parent with a time consuming career. Now that I’m an “empty nester” I have been thinking about it more and more. I have bookmarked your website for future reference.
    Thanks for the great info.

  3. NicleJBN, you are so right. I much prefer staying in homes, myself. They have much more room and we like to fix most of our own meals.

  4. Hi John, I’m sure it will. Homeaway offers some really good deals and you can save money by not having to eat out all the time, also.

  5. Thank you for visiting my site, Claudio. I have to agree with you. My family and I always try to stay in a home. It just has much more to offer.

  6. I’ve always preferred a vacation home over a hotel room. If I go on a vacation, I want to relax and escape the busy ordinary lifestyle at home.

A hotel has a lot of traffic (people) coming and going. Sure, when you’re in your room, you got your peace but it’s still a somewhat hectic environment.

A vacation home is more like at home. You can literally be like you’re at home. The feeling of home sweet home mixed with vacation is what a true vacation is about.

    Thanks for posting.

    All the best,

  7. wow. who doesn’t like vacation! I also prefer vacation homes rather than hotels. We get more privacy and freedom in those.
    Nice blog. Keep them coming!

  8. This is great I’m not a fan of hotels and always wanted a bit more space while on holidays so I will definitely be planning my next trip with this in mind.

  9. I had never heard about Homeaway vacation rental homes. I am glad I read this article. Having a kitchen can really make a difference in our vacation budget. Eating in restaurants is ok…occasionally. Thanks for sharing!

  10. Lureita,
I am planning my summer vacation now. i will keep in my plans the homeaway post. This may allow us to see more things when we are away.

  11. Renting a vacation home is a lot better than a hotel. I have a number of friends that do this and would never go back to staying in a hotel.

  12. Vacation home rentals is definitely the way to go. As you point out, you get more space for less money. I also like the feeling one gets from renting a home during a vacation. It goes beyond just visiting a place…it is *living* in a place for a short duration.

I’ll definitely check out HomeAway before my next trip.

  13. I love your website. Before to go on the vacation I will come here and take some advice from you.Love it Love it.

Usually, we always take an apartment or a house, because of course cost less and we can cook what we want after taking food from a local market stand to taste their typical food.

Thank you for providing such a quality information.

  14. I agree Kinya. That’s what my family does also. It’s just to expensive to eat out all the time, plus you are able to keep food for snacks and leftovers…lol

  15. We prefer to cook while we’re on vacation. It does save a lot of money, especially versus eating out. We always look for places that have kitchens. I’ll have to check this out.
